SharePoint: What does “Limited Access” mean

A Sharepoint Administrator asked me recently what “Limited Access” means in the list of Permissions. I found a simple, yet clear and visual explanation on Cory Peters’s blog.

In a nutshell, “Limited Access” to a site allows users to access a resource within the site (s)he has access to, without the need to have access to the entire site.
